Disclosure and Reporting

Providence College encourages members of our community to bring forth their concerns to the Office of Equity Compliance/AVP to receive the support and resources they may need as well as connect on how their concerns can be addressed through the College.
Disclosure
A disclosure occurs when someone tells another person that they or another person were impacted by discrimination, harassment, and/or retaliation involving another Providence College community member.
At PC, when a person makes a disclosure to a Confidential Resource/Office, the disclosure is confidential and does not result in a report to the Office of Equity Compliance/AVP unless the disclosing person chooses to make a report.
Report
A report is a disclosure that is shared with the AVP/Office of Equity Compliance.
Once the AVP/Office of Equity Compliance receives a report, they will connect with the impacted party with resources, support, and provide information to the impacted party about options available for them to connect with a Coordinator and address the behavior. If the behavior falls under the purview of the College’s Sexual Misconduct: Harassment and Discrimination Policy and Grievance Procedures, including Title IX, and the College’s Anti-Discrimination Policy and Grievance Procedures, including Title VI, the impacted party will have the option to file a Formal Complaint. If the behavior falls under another policy, the AVP or their designee, will provide referrals to the appropriate office(s).
Formal Complaint
A signed and written document memorializing the allegations of the Complainant (impacted individual) against the Respondent (accused individual) under the College’s Sexual Misconduct: Harassment and Discrimination Policy and Grievance Procedures, including Title IX, and the College’s Anti-Discrimination Policy and Grievance Procedures, including Title VI.
A disclosure/report may lead to a Formal Complaint, Formal Grievance Process (Investigation), or Informal Process (non-investigative process).
